I view coaching as a powerful process, which when structured well can help individuals, teams, and organizations achieve greater business results. Transparency, honesty, and trust are clear success factors upon which any coaching relationship must be based. The customization of an individual coaching plan is based on integration of the most effective tools, models, resources, and information aligned to an individual’s goals, objectives, and aspirations. Working the plan collaboratively, the coach facilitates a transformative process of reflection, learning, accountability, and ultimately achievement of results. Four fundamentals that are integral to the success of the coaching process are:
- Connectivity – the want and desire of the coach and leader to create an open, honest, trusting partnership, based on achieving the desired goals of the leader.
- Accessibility – the ability to be available and flexible in the manner, method, and frequency by which the coach and leader communicate based on the needs of the leader (e-mail, phone, face-to-face).
- Accountability – the ability to define specific goals and objectives in order to achieve desired outcomes, measure accomplishments, and celebrate successes.
- Sustainability – the ability to maintain the results and extend the coaching process to others.
